On dry feet in the right light

Every caravan owner knows the problem: If it rains when entering and leaving the vehicle, the water constantly runs in through the door. So a rain gutter above the door frame would be practical – though that place is usually reserved for lighting. But why not combine the two? EMKA shows how!

With the prototype of an exterior lighting system for the front door with integrated rain gutter, EMKA has developed a clever caravan solution that both provides light and keeps water out. Where otherwise the rainfall splashes unchecked onto the door, the water is directed past the entrance area thanks to a recess along the entire length of the lamp. This solution is not only aimed at original equipment manufacturers, but as a retrofit package also enables private customers to modify their current exterior lighting without a rain gutter.

The lamp is connected to the on-board power supply and can be conveniently switched on and off via a control panel. The LED strips will also have a dimming function. An option with additional spots to illuminate the step is also being considered. The door lighting is intended for vehicles with an entrance door of 600 mm or 800 mm. The first variant will be presented as a prototype at the CARAVAN SALON in Düsseldorf from 4 to 13 September. After the solution has been shown there for the first time, it is expected to go into series production in model year 2021/22.
