Production of gaskets in Spain

As part of the series of presentations of all EMKA sites around the world, we are visiting two production sites in Europe today: Arnedo in Spain and Mionica in Serbia. Both sites stand for full in-house production.

Production in focus

In 2010, EMKA opened its production site for seals in Arnedo. Today, Sealing Systems employs 85 people to manufacture sealing profiles made of EPDM, NBR, TPE, and PVC. Each year, they process 45 tons of elastomer compound into over 18 million meters of sealing and edge protection profiles. For this purpose, seven modern production lines up to 90 meters long are available on an area of almost 18,000 square meters. On these, EMKA Sealing Systems produces a wide variety of cross-section formats for the industrial, railway, and air-conditioning sectors. Besides self-clamping sealing profiles, these also include clamping channel profiles, profiles with adhesive surfaces, and window rubber profiles. In addition, various manufacturing processes, such as UHF and salt bath, enable production accuracy that is optimally tailored to customer requirements.

EMKA Sealing System also produces extruder mouthpieces in its tool shop for customer-specific profiles. Among other things, the certified factory (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) produces elastomer profiles in compliance with fire protection (EN 45545-2) and hygiene requirements (VDI 6022). During the production process, bonded coating or flocking can be applied. The profiles are then delivered, either rolled or in fixed lengths. Furthermore, direct processing into rings or frames at the production site is a daily practice. Various joining processes such as PE and EPDM film vulcanisation and injection moulding are used for this purpose.

By opening up this production area, EMKA has been in a position since 2010 to offer all critical construction elements for the design of industrial locking systems, namely seals in addition to locks and hinges, from a single source. True to the EMKA slogan: Ingenious locking technology.
