Smart Access: Open locks easily with your smartphone

Access without a key – with the new Smart Access, EMKA offers an intelligent yet practical locking solution based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The smartphone serves as a digital key, giving only authorized personnel secure and controlled access.

The name says it all – with Smart Access, locking operations can be easily and securely managed. The system includes the Agent E BLE swinghandle, which is based on Bluetooth technology and operated via the free EMKA Smart Access Key app as well as the EMKA Smart Access Manager software for managing handles and assigning access rights.

Logged access, differentiated access rights

The smartphone app and handle communicate via Bluetooth Low Energy.  A short press of a button on the respective handle is enough to activate it from standby mode. All Agent E BLE swinghandles for which access authorization exists are displayed on the smartphone screen. The app detects available swinghandles within a radius of up to six meters. The handle previously authorised via the Manager software can then be selected on the smartphone display.  By tapping the screen, an opening signal is transmitted to the Agent E BLE, and the handle can be swung aside to open the door. When the handle is closed again, the app indicates this action as well. All user authorizations are assigned centrally via the EMKA Smart Access Manager and all access is logged. Different access rights allow for permanent, temporary, or one-time locking processes. The Agent E BLE is compatible with all standard cabinet systems. No wiring is required for use and ongoing operation does not have to be interrupted for installation.

The system is particularly suitable for use in public authorities and institutions where access rights need to be assigned flexibly and contactlessly. A permanent internet connection is not strictly necessary, as Smart Access can also operate temporarily in offline mode.  The solution offers easy yet secure access, providing strong protection for sensitive contents. Thanks to the option of granting one-time access permissions, service operations can be carried out quickly and conveniently.

In addition, other electromechanical handles and locking solutions from EMKA can also be connected with Bluetooth technology. This is made possible by the “Access Unit BLE”. This interface box can be used to integrate up to four electromechanical locks, such as the new ultra-flat swinghandle 2225. These can then also be operated and managed using a smartphone app and software. Door contacts can also be connected to the Access Unit BLE to monitor the status of the doors (open or closed) in addition to the handle status.
