“Quality First!” – the video: EMKA products excel - even in challenging environments

A train faces difficulties as it powers through the snow on icy tracks. According to the thermometer, the temperature has dropped to a bone-chilling minus 40 degrees Celsius. One can sense the cold just by watching the video – but EMKA products are designed to withstand it. The message is clear: the hinges, locking systems and gaskets by the global market leader from the German town of Velbert always perform reliably, even under extreme conditions.

 

EMKA recently produced six impressive videos for the “Quality First!” campaign. The videos demonstrate the functionality of different important products in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, moisture, vibrations, and dust. The in-house accredited EMKA test laboratory in Wuppertal, Germany is the focus of the video series. In the 330 m2 building, the stress tests take place under strictly controlled conditions. The hinges and locking systems undergo rigorous testing, including high-pressure water jets, shaking, heating, and freezing, while maintaining their functionality and integrity.

“We wanted to demonstrate the exceptional durability and reliability of our products under extreme conditions”, explains Jennifer Justen, Online Marketing Manager at EMKA.

Rigorous testing

The planning and conception of the short videos were demanding. Marketing was supported by various departments. Along with the in-house team of experts, there were also product specialists and developers. “With their expertise, we were able to precisely map real-life application scenarios”, explains Jennifer Justen. The videos needed to present the complex product tests in a way that was easy to understand and visually appealing. At the same time, the 30-second videos were created with the aim of being both entertaining and exciting. Recognizing the importance of high-quality footage, EMKA opted to bring in a professional video agency for filming in the test laboratory.

To ensure the accuracy of the test results, we had to precisely simulate the harsh conditions that the products experience in daily life. The film crew also faced this challenge while pursuing the perfect shots. For instance, during the frost test, the camera team had a brief window of opportunity to capture the ideal shot right after opening the cold chamber door. Any delay resulted in immediate fogging of the lens. This was not only a challenge for the technology, but also for the crew, who repeatedly had to get up close.

The EMKA marketing team also found the creation of this video series to be a new and unique experience. The current impressive outcomes demonstrate that the hard work paid off. The response and viewership on the various channels are encouraging, according to Jennifer Justen.

“The very positive feedback so far has strengthened our resolve and motivated us to continue working on the campaign”, she adds. “We are very pleased with the result”. The video series will continue in the coming year. “We already have plenty of ideas and topics in mind that we would like to present in order to showcase the extensive range of our EMKA products even more comprehensively”. When it comes to choice of topics, the sky is the limit.
