As EMKA has just proven: It is possible for hygiene and modern design to go hand in hand. Especially for sensitive environments in the food and medical sector, where high standards for cleanliness and sterility are required, EMKA has developed its new hygiene device. The quarter turn has an externally flush and flat gasket and is available in two variants. It’s optimised closure is constructed according to the design specifications of the Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung – DGUV (the German statutory accident insurance institution).
For both variants EMKA has replaced the foamed gaskets with the new, food-grade flat gasket. This gasket meets the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and VO 1935/2004. In addition, the engineers have further rounded off the operation that makes cleaning even more practical. Both variants have been developed in accordance with the hygiene requirements of the DGUV and the European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group (EHEDG). The corresponding certifications are pending. The stringent requirements play an exceptional role, especially in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Among other things, the products used should withstand the jet of a high-pressure cleaner in order to enable efficient "cleaning in place". This requires suitably machined stainless-steel components, which EMKA develops in its own technology centre and then manufactures the parts in its own facilities.
Product advantages at a glance:
- Both versions are now equipped with radially flush gaskets and ensure improved hygiene.
- Compared to the previous version, the operation is made much easier and more suitable for improved hygienic cleaning.
- The GH dimension, including the hygienic flat gasket, is 18 mm.
- The life test was successfully completed.
- Meets IP 69K
