From Velbert to the world: EMKA invests in modern machines

EMKA continues to modernize its production. With an investment of over one million euros, the new press replaces two previous systems that had been in operation for over 25 years.

In mid-November, a state-of-the-art punching and bending machine from the manufacturer Haulick + Roos, with a pressing force of 1,000 kN, arrived at the production site in Velbert. Installation presented a logistical challenge: with the help of a special crane, the machine, which weighs several tons, was lifted through a specially opened roof construction to its place. It should be fully operational by the end of November.

The objectives of the acquisition are clearly defined: to significantly reduce setup times for smaller batch sizes, to increase energy efficiency by 25%, and to further optimize quality through more precise material handling.

One technical highlight of the new system is the electronically controlled straightening unit – the first of its kind at EMKA.

It enables extensive automation of the manufacturing process. By scanning barcodes or QR codes on the working papers, the press sets itself to 75%, significantly reducing the manual effort for the operators.

Another technical highlight is the integrated magnetic table, which replaces manual and hydraulic clamping technology. The tool is fixed securely and precisely at the simple push of a button. This not only ensures a noticeable increase in efficiency, but also consistently high machining quality without the potential sources of error associated with manual readjustment.

At the beginning of the year, EMKA took a further step towards modernization with the purchase of the DMV 185 milling machine. Tool plates larger than 1200 mm previously had to be manufactured externally. With the new milling machine, which has a milling table size of 2000 x 700 mm, this can now be done entirely in-house.

With these investments in modern technologies, EMKA is optimally positioned to maintain and further expand its leading roller in the field of latch and hinge technology in the long term.
