Environmental Management and Sustainability at EMKA

The general protection of the environment and the conscious use of natural resources is part of the fundamental business philosophy of EMKA. The continuous execution of planning and implementation of the production flow, as well as technical changes to the building, are all visible consequences of this environmental awareness. This approach results in the constant issuing of certification according to the international environmental management standard (DIN ISO 14001) by Germanischer Lloyd since January 2007.

GoGreen: Sustainable Products and Materials

Through our GoGreen program, we demonstrate how sustainability is put into practice: through the use of sustainable materials, resource-efficient processes, and alternative energy sources. Key examples include the GoGreen swivel handle and the GoGreen circuit diagram pouch. Both are made from 90% Durethan BLUE—a recycled, bio-based plastic—and have the same properties as standard PA6 products containing glass fiber. This clearly demonstrates that sustainability and high product quality are not mutually exclusive.

The product line stands as a symbol of durable products, resource conservation, and the successful use of recycled materials. This is supported by an interdisciplinary team from engineering, sales, purchasing, and legal departments that facilitates dialogue on sustainable solutions. If you are interested in sustainable products, please feel free to contact our technical product experts.

GoGreen Energy and Resource Efficiency Measures: Sustainable Products and Materials

  • Solar energy plant on the roof top for water heating in the communal rooms
  • Closed coolant circulation in the plastic manufacturing
  • Reprocessing of water for the production process in zinc die casting manufacturing
  • Modernisation of the complete heating system. Individual parts of the production or office buildings can be heated by central programmable control technology
  • Further energy savings can be achieved with temperature reduction at night time and at the weekend
  • For production at our manufacturing plants in Germany, we use nearly 50% green electricity
