Numerous studies cite up to 1500 German companies as Hidden Champions. But their selection criteria are often ambiguous and the results not completely accessible to the public. In this maze of information, the World Market Leader Index of WirtschaftsWoche sets a counterpoint: The Henri-B.-Meier-Unternehmerschule of the University St. Gallen in cooperation with the Akademie Deutscher Weltmarktführer (ADWM) has established a transparent and objective selection process. The applied criteria are transparent, the identified data are freely accessible, as WirtschaftsWoche reports as the media partner of the institutes. According to this, a company has to have at least 50 per cent of its sites in the region Germany, Austria, Switzerland, at the same time it has to have active production or sales companies in at least three continents. With an annual turnover of at least 50 million euros, it has to generate at least half of it with exports or abroad. In its world market segment, the company needs to have the biggest or second biggest market share.

The locking technology by EMKA is used in switch and control cabinets for electronics, in HVAC and in the transportation sector, among others. EMKA is both an expert in casting stainless steel and in injection moulding of zinc and high-performance plastics as well as in extruding rubber and plastic profiles.
