Simultaneous to the world's largest industrial fair in Hannover, the new catalogue for fitting parts, locking systems and various components for construction of industrial cabinet and housing manufacture has been released. The catalogue has been expanded by more than 140 pages with the additions and new products.

The general protection of the environment and the conscious use of natural resources is part of the fundamental business philosophy of EMKA. The continuous execution of planning and implementation of the production flow, as well as technical changes to the building, are all visible consequences of this environmental awareness. This approach results in the constant issuing of certification according to the international environmental management standard (DIN ISO 14001) by Germanischer Lloyd since January 2007.

Agent E Agent E is a battery-operated, electromechanical, wireless stand-alone locking system. Three versions of locking systems offer the possibility to upgrade the cabinet (from the easy opening with protocol function to the radio-controlled locking system) according to the requirement and without a change of hardware.

EMKA opens its new Technology Centre in Wuppertal, Germany.From an organisational viewpoint the new EMKA Technology Centre will work for the whole EMKA Group. It comprises of experts in many different fields, such as product construction, tool-construction and quality assurance.The ETC is essential for supporting the development of innovative Projects, Products and Systems. This change is fundamental for us to remain as the market leaders in the field of locking systems and hardware.

After POS GmbH, Velbert, and DGTH GmbH, Heiligenhaus, EMKA has taken over a long-time supplier for extruded profiles Happich Profiles Ltd.

The parent company with head office in Wuppertal, the GHE Group (a joint venture of the Italian company ELLAMP and Happich Industrieteile GmbH, Wuppertal) having become insolvent most recently, has been working with the EMKA group for years.

The takeover guaranties that our customers are further and promptly supplied with all products of the profile section. Beside the manufacturing of metal and plastics parts the EMKA product range now also includes extruded profiles.

Furthermore, this acquisition of the EMKA group completes the range of products for the sector of utility vehicles, like Agricon, Specialist vehicle, truck, and Bus & Coach. This purchase safeguards 50 jobs in England, and new jobs are provided in Velbert and Wuppertal.

As of July 1st, 2009, EMKA Beschlagteile GmbH & Co. KG have acquired and now continue the operational activities of the insolvent DGTH Productions GmbH, Heiligenhaus. EMKA Beschlagteile GmbH & Co. KG with international manufacturing companies and the modular hardware program is a globally operating leading partner for the industrial cabinet and enclosure manufacturing industry.
In focus is the broad range of manufacturing capacities (among others: tooling, punching- and metal forming, zinc/aluminum and plastics die-casting, machine cutting, surface technology, as well as sealing and assembling technology), which are concentrated in the production facilities in Germany at Velbert, Wuppertal (www.ils-fertigungstechnik.de), as well as in China and Bosnia. With their zinc- and aluminum die-casting production DGTH was known for high-quality components used in the sectors building and construction and automotive industry. Managing Director Friedhelm Runge is convinced that “the product range as well as the manufacturing processes excellently go with the program of the EMKA-Group”. For the months to come EMKA has rented the DGTH-premises at Grubenstraße, Heiligenhaus, where the activities will be continued with DGTH-employees. The EMKA-staff supports the first steps for a successful integration into the EMKA-Group.

Agent E – The smart lock

Agent E is installed as a handle module instead of the usual handle or quarter turn, and takes over the functions of a lock. By means of a mini transmitter a coded light beam is directed onto a solar cell in the handle module. After successful transmission the lock will be released.

As an additional option several locks may be activated through an access point, in server rooms for example.

EMKA Group takes over the long established company of POS

50 jobs secured / product line to be expanded

EMKA continues to expand: The EMKA group with its headquarters in Velbert, took over the Velbert enterprise of Paul Oberholz und Söhne Schloss- und Beschlagfabrik GmbH (POS). The business was notarised on Monday (November 17th, 2008). Approximately 50 employees at POS in Germany and Poland will retain their jobs, according to EMKA owner Friedhelm Runge. Concerning the purchase price no details were given.

„We are very pleased with the successful conclusion of negotiations. We realise the importance of such a long-established company“, said Runge. POS has been experiencing declining sales, according to its previous statements. „It is our intention to regain the lost customers. From our position there is reasonable hope of this. The previous POS staff should help us to succeed.
The first step of the move to the EMKA headquarters at the Langenberger Straße site in Velbert and to the site in Wuppertal should take place this year. „We will substantially expand the product range“ Mr. Runge announces.

With our development, construction, production and storage facilities as well as the world-wide sales, we are in no doubt that the company eminently fits our profile.“ POS is a specialist in closing systems, locks and latches and a supplier to the automotive industry as well as the recreation vehicle and truck industry.
The family-owned enterprise was founded in 1948 in Velbert. In the beginning they produced locks and latches for HVAC systems. In 1960 a second plant was added, focused on subcontracting for the automotive industry. The first closing, safety and fastening systems were delivered in 1965, starting from 1982 handles and accessories for automobile door panels followed. In the golden age of the 1970 POS had up to 300 employees. Since 1996 the company belonged to the Zeppenfeld group. Significantly important POS customers are companies such as VW, Audi, BMW and Land-Rover.
